Why Not I was invited to the Winning Together: Transforming Sport Through Culture conference hosted by UCFB Manchester United, bringing together students, industry leaders, and wellbeing advocates to explore how culture shapes performance in sport.

Led by Kofi Josephs, former Great Britain and England international basketball player and founder of Why Not I, the session focused on mental health, resilience, and authentic leadership, highlighting the parallels between elite sport and personal growth.

Kofi shared his lived experience of navigating professional sport, mental health challenges, and entrepreneurship, offering an unfiltered perspective on what it means to thrive under pressure while staying true to yourself. The discussion encouraged open conversations around vulnerability, wellbeing, and the power of community in creating lasting change across sport and beyond.

UCFB’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals, on and off the pitch, aligns closely with Why Not I’s mission to make mental health education and inspiration accessible to all.

Together, we’re shaping a future where athletes, students, and professionals alike can perform at their best without compromising their wellbeing.
