Why Not I was invited to take part in Huddersfield Town’s Inclusion & Empowerment Conference, held at the John Smith’s Stadium, bringing together students, professionals, and community leaders to champion inclusion, representation, and wellbeing in sport.

Led by Kofi Josephs, former Great Britain and England international basketball player and founder of Why Not I, the session explored mental health, resilience, and belonging, emphasising how inclusive cultures not only strengthen communities but also enhance performance and wellbeing across every level of sport.

Kofi shared his lived experience of navigating elite sport and entrepreneurship, offering an honest perspective on leadership, vulnerability, and the importance of creating environments where people feel seen and supported. The discussion encouraged reflection, authenticity, and action, reminding attendees that true empowerment begins with understanding ourselves and those around us.

Huddersfield Town’s ongoing commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion aligns seamlessly with Why Not I’s mission to inspire positive change through mental health education and authentic storytelling.

Together, we’re helping to shape a sporting culture built on empathy, openness, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive—on and off the pitch.
